What Is The Difference Between Overweight And Obesity?

Simply put, overweight is still considered normal while obesity is a pathological state. A frequently used criterion is the Body Mass Index (mass in kgr divided by (height in meters, squared) : mass/(height^2).
Typically, a BMI (body mass index) between 25-30 is considered overweight, while 30+ is obese.
My Daschund/mini-pincher Mix Weighs 15 Pounds. What Is The Best Way To Get Her Down To A Healthy Weight?

When we got her from the Humane Society, Maggie was about five pounds underweight and wouldn’t eat anything except cooked chiken. Now she eats anything and everything and we can’t get her to stick to a diet. We live on a farm and she loves to run all over our ten acres as often as she likes throughout the day, so she isn’t lacking in excersise. We suspect that she’s getting into the compost outside and that thats where she gets extra food. But what goes out to the garden is mostly leftover fruits and veggies, things that Maggie won’t eat when we offer them to her in the kitchen. She only gets a cup of food a day and usually doesn’t eat it all. How do I get her to stop eating whatever it is that she’s getting outside and get her down to a healthy weight?
